To celebrate his 40th birthday, Manny Campos, an instructor at Angelo State University, threw a fundraiser party at the House of Fifi Dubois located in downtown San Angelo on Saturday, Sept. 2. Food trucks, cake and drinks were all served to guests. Live entertainment was provided by Campos and his band, Manny Campos Band.

Over $4,000 was raised for the ASU Baseball Program which, in May of 2023, won the Division II National Championship.

“The goal is always based on my birthday year. So this year was ‘$4,000 for my 40th,’” Campos said.

For the past 20 years, Campos has celebrated his birthday by fundraising for local nonprofits, ASU sports teams and the Ram Fam Scholarship. The ASU Baseball Program has benefited for the last six years with money going towards uniforms, equipment and other needs. Campos’ goal is to help the entire team including redshirt freshmen, players and managers.

“I love the sense of family … It is the true embodiment of Ram Fam and true to our core values, especially ‘Community,’” Campos said.

“I am really grateful and honored that Manny would take the time out of his own birthday to do this for us, ” David Dressendorfer, a current junior on the ASU baseball team, said.

Campos brought up all of the ASU baseball team coaches to speak and congratulate them on their win. The Manny Campos Band paid tribute to the recent death of Jimmy Buffet by performing “Margaritaville” as well.

“I’m so grateful to the Ram Fam, my friends and my family for helping me help our Rams past and present. Looking forward to next year! ” Campos said.
