On Jan. 26-28 at Foster Communications Coliseum, San Angelo held its annual Comic Con, featuring celebrity appearances by Ted DiBiase, Olivia Hack and Lizzie Freeman.

Greg Evigan, Jesse Borrego and Carla Perez also had booths at the convention. This year you could get autographs as well as photos with the celebrities at their respective panels and booths, with prices ranging for each one.

Also in attendance were vendor booths containing many items from various pop culture icons and shows in the forms of stickers, pins, pocket watches, swords, comics, Funko Pops and many more. Plenty of events were also held during these days such as Cosplay Contests, Nerd Prom, Speed Dating and tournaments from popular games such as Mortal Kombat 1, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Street Fighter 6 and Super Smash Bros.

On Friday, Jan. 26, it was announced by event staff that a new convention, Anime San Angelo, will be taking place from Nov. 8-10 at the McNease Convention Center. Voice actors Michael Kovach, Amanda Hufford and Molly Zhang were announced to make appearances, but this is subject to change.

This convention, according to the website, will be “the ultimate anime hangout, featuring top-notch merch, celeb voice actors, panels, performances and gaming showdowns.”
