The Angelo State University Rambelles softball team dominated the Western New Mexico University Mustangs with three consecutive wins. The Rambelles took two wins on Friday, March 22, 2-1 and 7-4, with their third win taking place on Saturday, March 23, 4-0, for a 27-10 overall standing.

The Rambelles’ first game on Friday saw them walk away with a 2-1 win. The game saw an uneventful first inning, with the second inning having senior catcher Keilei Garcia hit a home run for the Rambelles’ first run, leading 1-0. The fourth inning saw sophomore infielder Tatiana Trotter hit a single and steal second base shortly afterward. The Rambelles reached a 2-0 lead with a run by Trotter after an opening from a single by Garcia. The following inning saw the Mustangs’ first batter hit a home run for the game's final score of 2-1, marking the Rambelles’ first victory.

Later that Friday evening, the Rambelles faced the Mustangs once again. After a walk to first base and an advance to second, junior pitcher/infielder Averie Gunther scored the Rambelles’ first run in their first inning. After an uneventful second inning, the third inning saw the Rambelles make great strides as Trotter hit a home run with junior outfielder Carter Smith on third base for two runs within the play; furthermore, freshman catcher Abby Brand scored the inning's third run for a 4-0 lead. The fourth inning saw the Mustangs put some points on the scoreboard with two runs from a home run. The Rambelles’ fourth inning was just as eventful; shortly after a home run by freshman utility Laylonna Applin for the Rambelles’ fifth run, a single by Garcia allowed Trotter to reach home plate from third for a 6-2 lead. Soon after, Garcia scored the Rambelles’ seventh run for a 7-2 lead. After a slow fifth inning, the Mustangs’ sixth inning saw them hit a home run with a player on base for two runs, reaching the final score of 7-4, asserting the Rambelles’ second victory.

The Rambelles faced the Mustangs a third time the following day with the first few innings being at a standstill. The fourth inning saw Trotter score the first run of the game, leading 1-0. With second and third base loaded, a single by Applin allowed Smith and Gunther to score two runs for a 3-0 lead. With Applin on third base, a flyout allowed her to reach home plate for the final score of 4-0 as the Rambelles’ third consecutive victory.

With their three consecutive victories against the WNMU Mustangs, the Rambelles reached a 27-10 overall standing. The Rambelles will now prepare to take on the St. Edward's University Hilltoppers in three consecutive games, once on Thursday, March 28, and twice on Friday, March 29.
