On Friday, May 3, the Angelo State University Rambelles softball team, No. 3 in the LSC, took on the Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaps, No. 6, suffering a 0-1 loss as their Lone Star Conference Tournament match-up.

The game saw a slow start with the Lady Chaps' first inning ending abruptly with two players left on base; meanwhile, the Rambelles' inning came to a prompter end with a Rambelle still on base. The Chaps' second inning also ended swiftly, having received three back-to-back outs. Shortly after a walk by junior infielder Katie Burris for junior infielder Lauren De La Cruz, a swing out ended the Rambelles' second inning. The Lady Chaps hit a home run in their third inning, taking the winning lead 0-1, with the inning ending shortly afterward. The Rambelles' third inning kicked off with a swing-out, followed by a walk to first base by junior pitcher/infielder Averie Gunther; furthermore, a single by utility freshman Laylonna Applin took first base with Gunther proceeding to second, the inning ended with both still on base. After a quick fourth inning for the Lady Chaps, the Rambelles' fourth inning saw junior infielder Erin Plunkett take first base with a single, stealing second base soon after. The inning ended with Plunkett still on base. The Lady Chaps' fifth inning was swift, with three back-to-back outs; the Rambelles' fifth inning saw junior outfielder Carter Smith pinch hit for senior outfielder Ashton Dirner, walking to first base. After a sixth inning by the Lady Chaps with two players still on base, the Rambelles' sixth inning was quick as they saw three consecutive outs. In their seventh inning, the Lady Chaps saw three strikeouts alongside a single to center field, ending their inning with a single player still on base. Shortly afterward, the game concluded as the Rambelles' seventh inning saw three consecutive outs, ending in a 0-1 loss for the Rambelles.

Having lost to the LCU Lady Chaps 0-1, the Rambelles hold a 37-16 overall standing and remain third in the Lone Star Conference rankings. Now that the Rambelles are past the LSC Tournament, they'll be engaging in the NCAA Division 2 South Central Regional Tournament from Thursday, May 9 to Saturday, May 11, with their next opponents still to be determined.
