Over the weekend, the Angelo State University Rams Baseball team took on the Texas A&M International University Dustdevils in two games on Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May 4, taking the win in both as part of the Lone Star Conference Tournament.

Friday's game saw a slow start, with the Rams eventually taking the lead with a run by senior center Tripp Clark in their third inning. The Dustdevils tied the score 1-1 with a run off of third base; however, the Rams followed up with two more runs by redshirt junior infielder Justin Harris and sophomore outfielder Hunter Holt for a 3-1 lead in their fifth inning. The Rams' lead was increased with another run, this time by junior outfielder Weston Valasek for a 4-1 lead. Shortly afterward, a home run by junior infielder Kamden Kelton with junior center Christian Garnette strengthened the Rams' lead to 6-1 in their seventh inning. The Rams' eighth inning saw three runs scored for the final score of 9-1, scored off of a home run hit by Clark with Harris and junior outfielder Jacob Guerrero on base, marking the Rams' first win.

Saturday's game began with the Rams taking an early lead with two runs scored by Guerrero and junior infielder Tayten Tredaway off of a double. The Rams fortified their lead with three more runs in their second inning, scored by Holt, Guerrero and sophomore center/infielder Blake Wilhoite, taking a 5-0 lead. Eventually, the Dustdevils scored a run of their own for a 5-1 score in their fifth inning. After a run by Wilhoite off of a double, Guerrero and Tredaway followed up with two more runs off of a double of their own, taking a major 8-1 lead in their sixth inning. In their last run of the game, Guerrero scored off of a flyout for the Rams' 9-1 lead. In their ninth inning, the Dustdevils scored one last run, reaching the final score of 9-2, marking the Rams' second win.

Having won against the TAMIU Dustdevils, the Rams now hold a 36-16 overall standing with a two-game win streak, ranking third in the Lone Star Conference standings. Next up, the Rams will proceed further into the LSC tournament, and are set to face the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions on Thursday, May 9 in Lubbock, Texas.
