Tennis 4-4-23 1

The Angelo State Belle tennis team went 1-1 after losing to the St. Mary’s Rattlers 4-3 on April 1 and defeating the Our Lady of the Lake Saints 7-0 on April 2.

 

ASU 3-4 StMU (Game 1)

The Belles would drop the doubles point early, giving the Rattlers a 1-0 lead. Letizia Corsini and Dianela Rodriguez would fall at position three, 6-4, followed by the Rattlers winning the next two 6-1 and 6-2.

Rodriguez would earn a singles point for the Belles on line one thanks to a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Eva Schwartz would win another point for the Belles, achieving a line three tiebreaking win 6-2, 7-6, 7-5. 

 

The third point for the Belles was won by Christine Jevicky on line four, 6-3, 6-2. This would not be enough, however, as the Belles would fall to the Rattlers 4-3.

 

ASU - OLLU (Game 2)

The Belles would start off the day by winning the doubles point to put them ahead of the Saints 1-0.

Doubles pair Ayda Guller and Ramitha Irrinki would win doubles line one 7-5, Schwartz and Mieke Van Deventer won line two 6-0 and Corsini and Rodriguez won 6-1 in line three.

 

The Belles would be undefeated, 7-0, against the Saints, winning all six singles matches. Rodriguez won line one 6-2, 6-0 and Corsini won line two 6-1, 6-0.

Schwartz would take line three quickly, 6-0, 6-0, and Jevicky would win line four 6-3, 7-6, 8-2. Guler would win line five, 7-6, 9-7, 6-1. Deventer would get the last point for the Belles as she would take line six, 6-2, 6-1.

 

The Belles move to 13-4 on the season with four more regular season matches. The Belles will play against the Western New Mexico Mustangs on April 8 to continue their Lone Star Conference play.
