On Saturday, Dec. 9, the Angelo State University Rambelles basketball team defeated the Oklahoma Christian University Lady Eagles, 81-69.

The game's first quarter kicked off with a layup from the Lady Eagles. The second minute saw two free throws from the Lady Eagles, immediately followed by two by junior guard Madisen Honea. Shortly after a jump shot from the Lady Eagles, sophomore guard Landry Morrow scored a layup and free throw. With two layups from the Lady Eagles, the Rambelles would follow up with two by junior forward Madeline Stephens and senior guard Sawyer Lloyd. The seventh minute saw a jump shot by Morrow and a layup by Honea for a 15-13 lead. Shortly after, the Lady Eagles took the lead with a layup followed by a three-pointer. The remaining minute of the quarter saw a layup from the Lady Eagles, with a layup by Stephens and a jump shot by senior forward Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant, ending the first quarter 20-19.

The second quarter was kicked off by McGhee-Pleasant with a jump shot, followed by a layup by Stephens. After another jump shot by McGhee-Pleasant, the Lady Eagles scored two free throws. The third minute saw a  layup by Sawyer and a three-pointer by Stephens for an ASU lead of 30-22. The following minutes saw a layup, free throw and a three-pointer by the Lady Eagles. The Rambelles followed up with two free throws by Morrow, a layup by Lloyd and a layup by Stephens. After another three-pointer from the Lady Eagles, Morrow and Lloyd each got a layup in. The Lady Eagles were last to score with a free throw as the second quarter concluded with ASU leading 40-32. 

The third quarter saw two free throws and a layup by Stephens in the second minute. After a free throw by the Lady Eagles, McGhee-Pleasant was fouled, which resulted in two free throws. Following a free throw by the Lady Eagles, Morrow locked in a three-pointer by the fourth minute. The fifth minute saw a jump shot and layup by the Lady Eagles, with the Rambelles getting in a three-pointer by Lloyd and a layup by McGhee-Pleasant. The following few minutes saw the Lady Eagles score continuously with two layups, two free throws and a jump shot; Lloyd would get a layup within then. The last minute of the quarter saw a free throw and jump shot by the Lady Eagles, along with a three-pointer by Morrow, layup and a free throw by McGhee-Pleasant.

The final quarter kicked off with the Ramebelles leading 62-49. Stephens would rush in and get a layup by the second minute, with another by the third, accompanied by a free throw. Shortly after a three-pointer by Lloyd, the Lady Eagles scored two layups. The Rambelles followed up with two jump shots by Lloyd and sophomore forward Alexandra Bednarczyk, leading 74-53. After a layup by the Lady Eagles, Stephens got two free throws scored. The sixth minute had the Lady Eagles shorten ASU's lead by four points with a layup and two free throws. A layup by the Rambelles sophomore forward, Aicha Ndir, was followed by a three-pointer, free throw and two layups by the Lady Eagles. With a three-pointer by sophomore guard Birley Merket and two free throws by the Lady Eagles, the game concluded with an 81-69 win for ASU.

With their victory against the OCU Lady Eagles, the Rambelle's overall score now stands at 7-4. The Rambelles now prepare to take on the Bridgewater State University Bears in the Big Island Holiday Classic on Friday, Dec. 15, in Hilo, Hawaii.
