On Thursday, Feb. 8, the Angelo State University Rams lost to the Lubbock Christian University Chaps, 50-75 at home.

Shortly into the first half, graduate forward Trey Farrer scored a layup, followed by another in the second minute. After a dunk by the Chaps, graduate guard Keyshawn Embery-Simpson increased the Rams’ lead with a jump shot. The Chaps tied the score 6-6 with two layups in the fifth minute. The Chaps would take the lead with a layup, followed by two free throws, a jump shot and two 3-pointers for a 6-18 lead. Following a jump shot by redshirt sophomore forward Shemar Smith, the Chaps reached 20 points with a layup. After another layup by Farrer, the Chaps secured a stronger lead with two jump shots, two 3-pointers and two free throws. After a layup by Farrer, a 3-pointer by the Chaps for a 23-point lead. The Rams would make some progress with two layups and a free throw by Smith. Following a layup and jump shot, the Rams scored a free throw by Smith and two free throws by Farrer, concluding the first half with the Chaps leading 20-39.

The second half saw Embery-Simpson score two free throws in the first minute. The third minute saw a jump shot and layup by the Chaps alongside two free throws and a 3-pointer by senior guard Willie Guy. The fifth minute saw a layup and free throw by Guy, with the Chaps scoring two free throws and maintaining a 30-47 lead. The following couple of minutes saw a jump shot, layup and free throw by the Chaps. After a jump shot and free throw by junior guard Carvell Teasett, the Chaps secured another 3-pointer. Narrowing the Chaps’ lead, Smith scored a jump shot followed by a layup and free throw by senior guard Kevon Godwin. Following two free throws by the Chaps, a jump shot by Godwin and two free throws by Smith would set a 42-57 score. With a layup by the Chaps, Teasett followed up with a layup for the Rams in the 12th minute. Increasing their lead, the Chaps scored a jump shot and dunked the following minute. After a free throw by Embery-Simpson, a layup by the Chaps and a 3-pointer by Teasett would follow. The following couple of minutes saw the Chaps score a jump shot, two 3-pointers and two free throws for a 27-point lead. The Rams would be the last to score with two free throws; however, they'd come up short, losing the game 50-75.

With their loss to the LCU Chaps, the Rams now have a 15-7 overall standing, with their next game on Saturday, Feb. 10, against the West Texas A&M University Buffs at home.
